“with this decision government is hand off from their responsibility to fulfill and respect socio-economic right of Indonesia citizen. The main problem of energy issues in Indonesia is the reality that natural resources of Indonesia is already monopolized by monopoly capitalism. Trade liberalization which already become Indonesian government mainstream on their economic and trade policy, is resulted to make majority Indonesia citizen (small peasant, workers, etc) become more vulnerable. “workers life in this country is already like slave, we are being asked to work overtime with small wage, that sometimes its not enough to fullfill family basic needs, with this policy now we are definitely become slave, trade liberalization is ruining our life, daily need prices is so high, since the government do not have capacity to run national production for self sufficient orientation, there for we are being choked by import products that killed our fellow peasantry in rural area” said Rudi

Rahmat from Alliance for Agrarian Reform Movement (militant national peasant organization) said the policy to revoke fuel subsidy will increase cost production for peasantry. He was concern, that this policy will increasing poverty level in Indonesia, since majority from Indonesia population is peasantry and workers.

“This is crazy, just from 2008 fuel prices hike, in west java, prices for land rent is increase for 100%, and for peasantry land is their mean of production, so we could predict that what will happen in these coming following days, peasantry life will become more miserable, and with this condition theay are being asked to compete with import agriculture product in the name of trade liberalization? This decision is truly expressing the character of Indonesia government as the running dog of monopoly capitalism” explain Rahmat that also Deputy of General Secretary of Asian Peasant Coalition (APC)
